Someone pointed out in a YouTube promo for The Mindy Project that the show’s timing is kind of wonky, and lo and behold, Wikipedia informs me that FOX has been airing the episodes out of order. I mean, way out of order, going back all the way to the third episode. I’ve noticed people complaining that the writing is kind of all over the place, but I ignored it. Turns out, it’s not the writing, it’s that the network executives are stupid.
The effect of the switches is that Mindy’s been coming off a lot more flaky and indecisive that she really is. She’s not actually been jumping between Deslaurier and the male prostitute and Casey. And it’s a potentially harmful decision and even a death omen. It might even have caused Don’t Trust the Bitch in Apartment 23’s cancellation.
When a show starts tinkering with its episode order, it’s a sign of trouble—the network is almost certainly cherry-picking episodes in a bid to boost sinking ratings.
[Edit: It’s been brought to my attention that Hurricane Sandy is to blame. The issue still stands.]
My gift to the fandom is this: the correct episode order. I believe a season rewatch is warranted.

Republican Senator Jeff Flake’s son is a fucking bigot. But because he’s (1) white, everyone will apologize for his behavior. He was just “trolling.” He needs attention. He’s just a kid. These are some of the comments that litter the comments section.
All these fucking excuses. Had he been black, people wouldn’t be trying to pull excuses out of their ass. Further, he is much like many gamers, who don’t mind saying racist, sexist, and homophobic (most of whom are white hetero cis fuckheads who won’t have to grapple with any of those issues).
But it will all wash away soon. His father will kiss a few black babies, have his son say some shit about the Bible and the error of his ways. He’ll do something. “N1ggerkiller”? Really? In a nation where Oscar Grant, Sean Bells, and Trayvon Martin’s stories are common for black folks.
Fuck him and fuck his father, with his sorry ass apology. Fuck you if you try to excuse his shit.
