I am so salty right now. So salty, that I’m wondering how she can be a “fine example to young Samoans” if she doesn’t even look like young Samoans. If I needed a blonde haired white girl to be an example for me as a young Samoan, I could just buy Cosmo magazine. I’m really confused right now.

I am struggling to keep up with the daily rhythm, and American Samoa was a challenge! With only 68,000 people, the territory doesn’t appear to support a robust media. Yes, there are public television and public radio stations, but from what I can tell the noncommercial airwaves are dominated by
Just FYI, Am. Samoa is slim on non profit media because lots of folks are there for the profit (monetary or religious, usually going hand in hand). My favorite part about critique of Am. Samoa, is that it always fails to recognize the roots of what folks perceive to be “cultural shortcomings”. It’s not a principle of Samoan culture to be anti-public media or profit driven, those things are purely colonial.
